Auditor's Office Virtual Evening Office Hours
Virtual Evening Auditor’s Office Hours for Tax and Value Questions
Jefferson- Ashtabula County Auditor David Thomas announced several evening opportunities to contact the Auditor’s Office this month during 2nd Half Tax season. “I realize many folks work during the day and if they have questions about their property taxes or values, may not be able to get ahold of someone in our office,” shared Auditor Thomas.
The Auditor and staff will be available to answer questions on property values, residents’ tax charges, or other concerns by phone or email in the evening. Dates include Thursday June 18th 5-7pm, Tuesday June 30th 5-7pm, Wednesday July 8th 5-7pm, and Monday July 13th 5-7pm. Residents cannot physically visit the Auditor’s Office in the evening, but are encouraged to call 440-576-3783 or email djthomas@ashtabulacounty.us during these times to get immediate assistance.
Residents who are available during the work day can visit the Auditor’s Office physically to ask questions and sign up for tax credit programs. The Auditor’s Office is located at the Courthouse 25 West Jefferson Street Jefferson, Ohio and open from 8am-noon and 1pm-4:30pm.
“We have held many education sessions and traveling office hours during the past year, with COVID-19 our office has continued to inform residents and plans to be a resource for property questions before taxes are paid,” explained Auditor Thomas. Tax credit programs available to residents to discuss include CAUV for agricultural property, Homestead for senior citizens or permanently disabled residents, and Owner Occupancy for homeowners who use the property as their only residence.
In addition to the evening virtual office hours provided in the upcoming month, the Auditor’s Office has released a step by step guide to understanding property owner’s pages on the Auditor’s website. Residents can find this tool, along with video interviews of staff and programs hosted by Auditor Thomas at http://auditor.ashtabulacounty.us/dnn/.
